PARAPET
WeatherAll Parapet SystemConstruction Concepts WeatherAll parapet system provides a weather proof, attractive and easily installed finish to parapet and perimeter falls, columns and piers of any thickness and shape ( A minimum parapet wall height is required). This high performance design is reflection of years of experience working with parapet coping in the sheet metal and construction industry.
Key benefits
- Entirely weather proof and prevents water penetration into the top of the wall. There is a protective Neoprene seal on the join plates
- Provides a clear drip on both sides preventing water staining to the building
- The system can be manufactured to fit any width/girth of wall, square & irregular corners, junctions etc. Even parapets curved on plan can be fabricated. A consistent wall girth, within a tolerance of +-20mm, is required for the standard fixings. Greater variations can be catered for.
- Ideal for both new and refurbishment work
- Fixing is a quick and simple. The fixing system ensures accurate alignment. Brackets are attached to the wall with anchor bolts. The coping is hooked under the bracket and fixed at the back with a Tek screw.
- Attractive clean lines, no fixings are visible on the surface
- The parapet coping is completely maintenance free
- The brackets hold the coping slightly off the wall to allow ventilation underneath, while remaining weatherproof.
- The design accommodates thermal movement.
- Parapet copings are fabricated from aluminium alloy sheet, with a minimum thickness of 2mm. For wider copings and painted copings the thickness may increase. Fixing brackets are pressed 3mm galvanized steel. The brackets/ joint plates also have extruded Neoprene seals bonded to the top surface.
All fabricated fittings (90 deg corners, irregular corners, stop ends, up-stands, 90 deg tee junctions) are mitred, welded and have a smooth finish on the front face.
- Mill finish is standard. Polyester powder coated paint finishes applied after fabrication. A wide range of colours available from the Ral colour range. For most colours there is a choice of gloss, satin or matt finishes.
- The standard coping sections are supplied in 3 meter lengths. Special profiles can be catered for.
- Durability: Aluminium is resistant to corrosion due to the natural formation of oxide film on the surface of the metal
- In normal atmospheric conditions our parapet range requires no maintenance.
- Outstanding rigidity is achieved and maintained by the material thickness anf fixing mechanism.
- Compatibility: Aluminium should be protected from materials which may cause electrolytic corrosion.
- Thermal movement: Co-efficient of linear thermal expansion is 23 x 10 to the power of 6 per deg C. A gap of 6-8 mm should be left between coping sections to accommodate thermal expansion.
- Resistance to chemicals: Our Parapets are resistant to normal industrial pollutants
- Brackets are fixed to the top of the wall using an appropriate anchor bolt. The parapet coping are attached to the wall/bracket using a suitable fixing for the substrate.
- Select starting corner. Slide joint plate under corner. Ensure Neoprene seal is under corner plate.
- The Neoprene sealing strips automatically seal the space between joint plates and coping. Leave 6-8mm gap for thermal expansion.
- Secure brackets to the top of the wall at 1m intervals. Ensure levels are correct.
- Hook the outside flange of the coping under the bracket and rotate down.
- Secure the parapet with appropriate fixings to the back lip of the bracket.
- The range of fixings used depends on substrate material and job conditions
- It is important to ensure that the top of the wall is suitable to take fixings (especially in refurbishment work where brick work may be in poor condition). Exact specifics depend on the substrate.
Full fixing instructions are supplied and these must be followed carefully by experienced professionals.
Note:
- Ordering: When ordering, please state the overall wall thickness , including any flashing , rendering, asphalt etc. Specify tolerance to avoid extra costs of variations. Detail clearly any accessories required, particularly any non standard requirements.
